| April Blocks/Block #1 2012 BoM |
[Apr. 28th, 2012|11:48 pm] |
I have so much fabric that I decided to do two of each block. I am not sure if I am going to make one bigger quilt or two smaller ones.
My Aqua and Red Stash... provided by my wonderful LJ friends as a wedding gift.

( This Way to this months blocks )
I really like the way these blocks turned out, its amazing how much the different fabric choices affect how they look. |

| 1st Block--2012 Block Exchange |
[Apr. 27th, 2012|06:41 pm] |
Hi Everyone! I meant to post last night, but time does fly!
Important Note: the way this usually works is one person posts the directions, and then as other members finish that block, the other members each post a picture of their completed block. Because people post at wildly different times (even sometimes a month or so late), we ask that everyone put a tag on their posts, usually "Round 5-April 2012." That just make it easier to find people's examples. However, since we are posting at the end of each month, if the moderators will agree, I suggest we tag like so, "Round 5--Block One". When you post your super awesome completed block, please add the tag to your post! :-)
Now for the moment you've all been waiting for, our first block is....drumroll....

| Fabric Choices - BoM |
[Apr. 23rd, 2012|08:45 pm] |
I'm pretty sure I'll be using this set of fat quarters called "Meadow Friends" by Deb Strain. I can't decide if I'll make the blue version or the pink version. I want to use the blue, greens, oranges but... ( Cut for images ) |

| One week to go! |
[Apr. 22nd, 2012|08:40 pm] |
Wow! I'm so excited that so many are going to participate! I'm still reading everyone's posts, but I've already seen some cute quilts!
Have you picked your fabric scheme yet? I was going to do one boy and one girl, but now I think it will be two girls:
Crazy Flowers Scheme--I think the bright blue star is going to be my background fabric...assuming that I don't run out. In which case, I have the circles as backup.
Green & Purple Scheme--The white and purple in the front is going to be my background fabric. Most of the rest of the fabrics are leftover bits from the back of a quilt. I think this would make a nice teen girl quilt, so I may try to make two of each block so that I can make it twin size. We'll see.
Feel free to post your own fabric schemes, or if you prefer, just surprise us with your blocks! I told myself that I wasn't going to pull out a whole pile of fabrics, but I just can't seem to help myself.
Now to decide on the first block! And speaking of blocks...Thanks to everyone who volunteered! I put together a schedule of blocks to come.
April 30-- leapin_jot May 30-- damnskippytoo June 30-- purlewe July 30-- sewcute August 30-- aphoenixrain September 30-- lirren October 30-- jewells68 November 30-- quiltingdragon December 30-- si_anenome
If I listed you above, please comment and confirm that you are okay with the date above. I would say that if you can not post on that exact date, anytime up to a week Before would be okay. If you changed your mind and don't want to commit to a block, that is perfectly okay too. I am more than capable of taking extra months...I would just like some notice. :-)
The tricky part is picking blocks that no one else has chosen! I have it easy! Ha-ha! Aren't I mean? If you have a later month, it may be wise to choose a backup block just in case. At one point, I went through the book, 501 Rotary-Cut Quilt Blocks by Judy Hopkins, and found over 50 nine-patch blocks, so if you're stumped, give me a shout out.

First name or the name you preferred to be called: Marissa Region/City of current residence...if you do not consider your current location as home, feel free to share "home location" as well. :-) Orange, CA Post with your favorite userpic. Why is it your favorite? Its ME!! Years quilting and your self-assessed level of quilting expertise (no modesty allowed): Intermediate- I'm pretty sure I can tackle almost anything, but I haven't tried anything with curved edges yet. Favorite & Most Hated quilt block/design: I'm non-discriminating. Who gets this quilt? Why? I think its going to be the quilt that lives in my car, for snuggles and picnics and all sorts of other adventures. What is your color scheme or if you're still undecided, what are the possibilities? I received a lot of aqua/turquoise and reds as wedding gifts from many of my online quilting friends so I think that I am going to use those. This quilt will be filled with lots of love for my husband and I. Post a pic of your last Finished project. Last finished project:

Name: Andrea, or AJ for short City: Edmonds, WA... just a quick drive north of Seattle Userpic: Usually it shows how I'm feeling at the moment. I've been quilting off and on for about 5 years now; still a beginner. I don't really have a loved/hated design, most of my quilts have been very simple. I will probably keep this quilt, because as an avid knitter, I gave away all of my projects to friends/family, and don't have one for myself. I think I'll use up a lot of leftover scraps I've saved up. Everything mismatched, just like me. :) I wish I had a picture I could share, but alas they were all lost when my ex-husband and I separated. I am currently working on one for my boyfriend for his 30th birthday and will have the top finished in a week, so I'll try to post that sometime. Again, just squares and easy things...
I'm hoping to finally join in with this group even though I've been following it for years! Nice to meet you all. :) |
