FINALLY [Jan. 2nd, 2014|10:50 pm]
Quilt Block of the Month

After what, a year of this round being finished? I finally got the piecing, sashing, and borders done on this block of the month. Though in my defense, I didn't sew for about six months because my husband and I bought our first house, moved, and then I had a baby.

Overall I'm pretty pleased. I learned a lot about precise piecing and not taking shortcuts, and I learned I have a few favorite (and not so favorite) nine patch blocks. Now to get these basted and quilted, which will probably take another year or so.

I finally finished it(well I just have to flip the binding to the back) . I left out the block that wasn't a nine-patch and offset the others so they float
Here it is.....Collapse )

It was going to be one big quilt (adding 2 blocks to make a 4x5) but then I realized I don't like oranges and browns and I had no use for one big quilt either for myself or a gift, so instead it's been added to (total 24 blocks) to make two smaller quilts for the charity quilting project I participate in.

Much betterCollapse )

I finally got all the blocks done and here they are all together. I did a basic 9 patch for one of the blocks to keep the 9-patch block theme consistent.

I'm really behind with these blocks, lol.

Anyway, if you don't mind the link to my personal blog (because I don't have these pictures on my computer atm), here are my two versions of Glory Boxes, complete with horrible piecing mistakes and everything.

This way!

My apologies for the delay. I was waiting to do the samples, but my machine broke last month and it has not been resurrected yet. Without further ado, I bring to you the Church Dash block:

basic churn dash

It is a basic 9 patch, and should you need instructions you can find them here and here.

Like many other blocks, it is easily modified. Feel free to get creative, or Google for ideas. Here is one that I like:

churn dash 2

There is also a wonky churn dash which makes a fun block:

Happy quilting! I will post as soon as I am done with my blocks.

I've completely lost track of which month it is. But it's done. I figure that I can do a couple more permutations as filler blocks if needed as it is kind of a scrap user.

My apologies, friends. I posted the block and didn't check on it, and I didn't realize that something went wrong.

This block is one of my favorites. It makes a great scrappy quilt, or with a jelly roll. I'm working on my second quilt top, but it makes a great single block, too.

Months 8 and 9? [Dec. 18th, 2012|08:18 am]
Quilt Block of the Month

I keep thinking that I missed the post for the December block (month 8, should have been posted betwen 11/26 & 12/1), but I don't see it. We're coming up on the end of December, so the January block (month 9) should be posted soon.

Am I crazy? Even though I'm not able to participate at the moment, I am trying vey hard to keep our home page up to date...

Thanks! :)
